first off: DUBLIN happened
Nora and I took a bus to Dublin because it's just something you have to see when you're in Ireland. A few highlights from our tour:
- Trinity College
This is, as far as I could tell, a very old College that was very pretty, and is located very deep within the city and not far from where we got off the bus. It's also the place where the Book of Kells is, but we didn't see it. The reason we didn't see it is because we would have had to pay 8 euro, and we've heard it's not that great. You only get to see 2 pages of the whole thing because they're afraid to turn the pages.
- National Gallery
This actually had some pretty noteworthy stuff, given that it was FREE. A pretty large collection of W.B. Yeats who is apparently a very big deal here. He was an Irish writer/artist that we keep finding in various Museums and classes. There was also a small room containing a piece by Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Velazquez, Picasso, Van Gogh, Cezanne and Goya. So yeah.
- GUINNESS FACTORY
This place is alot like the Science Museum in Minnesota. It's full of fun little things and awesome exhibits, but they all have to do with GUINNESS. Theres a room where the walls are covered with tall stalks of hops, making the whole room smell like hops. Halfway through the tour you are offered a free half glass of Guinness to observe/smell/taste in a very classy way. Then, at the end of the tour, you can exchange your ticket for a free pint of Guinness.
Overall, I drank 4 pints of Guinness while in Dublin. That's half a gallon.
