We are in Galway! And boy is it something. The exact apartment we live in is not very representative because we are quite a distance from the center of the city and it's located in kind of an industrial park, but Galway is AWESOME.
The layout of the city is that it's located on a Bay, by the river Corrib. There's a city square called Eyre Square (pronounced "Air Square"), and there are a number of cute shop streets and pubs that sprawl away from it. Shop Street (guess what's there) is sort of an equivalent to State Street on Madison. Today we went there and found an awesome place called McCambridge's, which looks like a very fancy and expensive grocery store and deli, but actually offers delicious sandwiches for a surprisingly cheap amount (about 3 euros). That's pretty cheap, considering I payed 7 euros yesterday for the equivalent of a Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese meal. What is that, 9 dollars?
We saw a bit of the university where we'll be studying and we'll be attending Orientation tomorrow. Can't wait til classes start because right now there's not much to do except buy things.
Haven't bought a sweater yet but that is one of our goals.
